Our Story Began
Alternative Training Solutions is a family run company, Created in 2008 by Lucy Gearing and Tim Horler. We offer courses in holistic therapies, beauty therapies and hair, all of which are accredited by ABT.

We also run Olive Branch our own beauty treatment room. Offering the latest beauty treatments and massages to our clients.
Meet Our Team
Lucy Gearing
Lucy Gearing has been in the field of health and well-being for the past 28 years. She has spent most of her career working at her clinic in Somerset and has also worked as a therapist in some of the local hotel spas such as Babbington house where she delivered bespoke courses to the clients. She has delivered a variety of courses in the local area, working for a somerset county council training provider and local colleges. Lucy has worked with very diverse learning groups from those with learning disabilities to Level 3 Anatomy and physiology. On qualifying to Level 5 teaching Lucy then developed the Health and Beauty training curriculum for Somerset county council gaining course accreditation with the new courses that she had led the development of. Including her IV training into her work she now leads the standardisation for the county complimentary & Beauty department.

Nikki Allen
With over 25 years experience, ranging from salon management to teaching, Nikki offers a wide range of one to one hairdressing services from colouring, balayage, and highlights to Keratin Straightening treatments, perming and special occasion hair.
Tim Horler
Tim Horler is a practicing Therapist with over 10 years experience. Originaly Qualified with ITEC he went on to study Sports and Activity injury management with the Barnes Sport injury Clinic. More recently Tim has turned his attention to passing on some of the knowledge and experience he has gained. He is a qulified teacher and has experience in teaching various groups with varying abilities. He has taught a wide range of levels from school leavers to Foundation Degree students. He also assesses on-line courses and is a registered exam management invigulator.
